The theater fan in me needs to quote, Belle from Beauty and the Beast, “I want adventure in the great wide somewhere…”
My 2017 year of adventure started when I was working on my goals for the year. Shortly after Christmas, I began the journey to a bigger year ahead. I took out all my favorite journals/ inspirations and laid them on the table. I am a visual person, go figure, so curating my tools and resources in a photo has proven to be a bigger force on the changes at hand than I could have imagined!
Two great influencers in this layout and my professional life are Oprah Winfrey and Debbie Phillips of Women on Fire. Perhaps I was subconsciously setting the tone for the year. Did my arranging of these items help in the manifesting the changes ahead? I think so! Let’s get 2017 off to a great start and LIVE BIG!
Fast forward – the year began with an immense sense of gratitude and new if not now, when mindset. I set goals to live beyond fear and embrace what I have to offer. Tackling each new day as a voracious student of life. Heck, I even enrolled and completed five classes in Integrated marketing communications (IMC) at Medill all before April!
One of those if not now, when moments came to me when I was reading O, The Oprah Magazine February 2017 issue. As I came to the end of the magazine, I paused for a long time when I saw this question. What to join our Inner Circle? Going with my theme of the year, why not I applied to be a part of the OMag Inner Circle and wrote my responses from the heart. When I re-read only a select few will be chosen, I actually thought why not me. Choosing to be positive, I submitted the application and went about my day.
About a month later, I received an email from the magazine team that yes indeed, I was selected to join 49 other influencers. Thrilled to be a part of such great company, I wanted to meet some of my newest tribe as soon as possible. What did we have in common? How can we support each other? A belief of mine and the Women on Fire group I belong to is that we are truly #strongertogther. I couldn’t wait to see what magic was about to begin when we gathered. Seems like our group was of a similar mindset! Meeting #OMagInsiders in Chicago and New York, I was greatly energized. Following other members on social media has been a lovely way to make this journey personal.
Yesterday, we had our first #OMagInsiders conference call. We are in for great new adventures and experiences! I am honored to be a part of the Inner Circle and look forward to sharing my experiences with you!
